Pie Jesu is a hypnotic art song for solo mezzo-soprano and piano, initially premiered in Tufts Distler Performance Hall. Taking inspiration from the harmony of Satie and Duruflé, this setting of the requiem mass text juxtaposes sparse and dense chords, allowing the soloist’s voice to float above the accompaniment.
